AFTER an international rugby break in which Uganda made a failed attempt to win back the Elgon Cup from Kenya last Saturday, local club rivalry returns this Saturday in the Uganda Cup.

“We have to complete our calendar as earlier scheduled that is why we have no time of rest,” URU rugby manager Yayiro Kasasa said.

“We know that clubs with players who have been on national duty may be affected because of fatigue. That is why it is good for them to groom many players that can stand in effectively for those on national duty,” Kasasa added.

Uganda telecom Kobs hosts Jinja-based Nile RFC at Kampala Rugby Club and a win will see them face the winner between Entebbe Mongers and Rhinos in the semi final.

G4S Pirates host Toyota Buffaloes while MTN Heathens face Makerere Hima Impis at Kyadondo.

Should they win their fixtures this weekend, Heathens and Pirates shall meet in the semi-final in what is dubbed the judgment game.

Pirates suffered a 25-14 loss to Heathens in the league clash which dented their chances of lifting their maiden league title.

As Heathens vow to lift a double, rivals Kobs also have eyes fixed on the Uganda Cup as consolation after failing in the league.
