Sad news from London reached us recently that Salabed International Forex Bureau, a popular money-sending and cargo transfer company, for Ugandans on kyeyo in London, was robbed at gunpoint by unknown assailants.

Insiders say almost 5m pound sterling (over sh15b) is feared to have been robbed. It is believed to be an inside job because the thugs hit at an incredibly opportune time before the weekend money had been banked.

Salabed is owned by Ugandan businessmen Hussein Bohaiti, Shuckery and Yusuf Mazrui, who also owns Club Volts discotheques in Uganda and in the UK. We hear a month earlier, Salabed, which has a branch in every part of London, had merged with other small money-sending centres in London to open a big money transfer bureau in Kampala.

This misfortune, however, has not only affected the company, but also Ugandans in the UK who had sent their money to their families in Kampala. Oh boy!
