THE Police have arrested four people suspected to have been involved in burning down the Mini Price Police post during last month’s riot that rocked Kampala city and its suburbs.

The suspects were identified as Charles Damulira, Benard Samalu, Moses Kijjambu and John Segirinya.
They were yesterday paraded before journalists during a Police weekly briefing at the Central Police Station in Kampala.

The Police said on September 10, the suspects set ablaze the Police post, damaging property worth millions of shillings.

Kampala Metropolitan deputy Police spokesperson Henry Kululu said the business community around the park helped the Police in identifying the suspects.

According to Kalulu, Police files, communication gadgets, uniforms, exhibits and other important documents were destroyed in the fire.
He added that the four would be charged with terrorism, which carries a maximum sentence of death on conviction.

A person commits an act of terrorism when he is directly involved or is an accomplice in maiming or attacking any official premises, private accommodation or means of transport.

Addressing Parliament last month, President Yoweri Museveni said 15 people died in the three-day riots that erupted after the Buganda Kingdom’s premier John Baptist Walusimbi was stopped from going to Kayunga to make preparations for the Kabaka’s tour of the area.

Over 600 people were arrested in connection with the riots and charged in court. A total of 29 suspects were charged with terrorism over the burning of another Police post at Nateete.
