Dear Doctor,

Dear JM,
IT is common for women to get anxious after failing to conceive for sometime. However, this should not take your life away. The most common cause of secondary infertility is infection of the fallopian tubes, which leads to tubal blockage.

However, this is not the case for you since your uterus and tubes are normal. There are other possible medical causes of fertility problems, including hormonal imbalances, unovulation and other chronic medical conditions.

In the absence of these, there are other external factors that influence fertility, including anxiety, stress and contact hours as a couple.

The history of a previous abortion and miscarriage may also increase your level of anxiety and thus reduce your chances of conceiving. Talk about your fears with your husband.

Visit a gynaecologist together. Avoid being anxious and work towards a solution.
