FORT PORTAL - Members of Parliament on the defence and internal affairs committee have urged the Government to rehabilitate all prison facilities in the county. The MPs noted that the conditions in which the prison staff and inmates stay were deplorable and a threat to their health.

They made the observation while touring Katojo Prison in Kabarole district on Saturday. They said the prison staff quarters were condemned by the World Health Organisation as unfit to accommodate human beings.

“The barracks, administration block and detention cells are in bad shape. It’s a shame to the Government,” said Frank Judith Akello, the Pader district Woman MP.
