CRICKET - Team captain Akbar Baig will again open the batting when Uganda takes on Kenya in a first One-day game at the Nairobi Gymkhana grounds today. Coach Mohammed Ebrahim moved Akbar Baig from number fourth place in the batting lineup due to the absence regular openers. Baig started well and guided Uganda to victories in the first two Twenty20 games.

Lira hosts refs refresher course

SOCCER - A two-day refresher course for referees in Northern Uganda is set for December18-19 at Lango College in Lira. Course coordinator Leo Alani said the course will draw nine districts in northern Uganda. The workshop, organised by Uganda Football Referees’ Association (UFRA), is to prepare the whistlers to officiate the forth coming first division. The participants are to pay sh10,000 to facilitate the instructors’ expenses.

Bugiri Xmas Cup kicks off

SOCCER - The newly elected Bugiri Football Association executive headed by Mohammed Kasakya has started in high gear by organising a Christmas football gala in three sub counties in the district. Three bulls will be competed for by teams in Bugiri Town Council, Iwemba and Buwunga sub-counties.
