Rubaga Hospital’s denial is surprising

Jun 20, 2009

I have read two pathetic letters about Rubaga Hospital. I have also read the Rubaga Acting Medical Director’s advertisement. Why should the hospital authorities deny the neglect of the late Jjulunga as if Dr John Bosco Mutakirwa was at the scene?

I suppose the director only relied on the statement by the security personnel. Was it sensible for the hospital guards to take a dying man to the police station instead of into the hospital? Any hospital’s customer care begins at the gate, the more reason for the director to own up to the senseless act of the guards.

There was yet another letter on Thursday where a nurse is said to have told a cashier that she could not stand the sight of the patient’s wound! In this instance (June 3), the cashier’s first concern was also money! What does Mutakirwa say about that one? There should be sanity at Rubaga. Even the casualty ward of Mulago Hospital is far better than Rubaga Hospital!

I am amazed by Dr John Bosco Mutakirwa’s denial of Rubaga Hospital’s professional misconduct. Mutakirwa is the Acting Medical Director of Rubaga.

He must own up that it is wrong and unethical for an emergency ward to be manned by interns. Moreover, the money spent on press releases would better be invested in human resource development to train health workers in handling patients.
