Court makes verdict on Global Fund today

KAMPALA - The High Court will today deliver its judgment on a case involving two directors of an NGO, Value Health, accused of embezzling sh38.3m from the Global Fund.

KAMPALA - The High Court will today deliver its judgment on a case involving two directors of an NGO, Value Health, accused of embezzling sh38.3m from the Global Fund.

Annaliza Mondon and Elizabeth Ngororano are accused of mismanaging the money, making false entries and uttering false documents between March and December 2005. They deny the charges.

The head of Anti-Corruption Court, Justice John Bosco Katusti, brought the judgment forward from August 3. Prosecution said the duo made false accountability at the Project Management Unit in May 2005. Most witnesses denied having dealt with Mondon and Ngororano in carrying out Global Fund activities.

Some of the key witnesses were Mohammed Kezaala, the former Permanent Secretary in the health ministry and Patrick Mpairwe from the Uganda Revenue Authority.
