STRUCK by a longer, narrow but beautiful par 71 Entebbe course overlooking Lake Victoria, Jinja star golf teenagers have ‘cried out' that the course has been tightened, Douglas Mazune reports.

Jinja Golf Club's Emma Opio, twin brother Grace Ocici and Sadi Mawa who have conquered courses in the countryside this season have particularly pointed out that holes 5, 7 and 10 have been tightened.

Entebbe, the oldest club in East Africa was inaugurated in 1903 but will only host its maiden Uganda Open this year.

“There are many trees on all holes but I don't think holes 5, 7 and 10 have always been like that. I can’t tell the distance but I think they have been narrowed a bit,” Opio remarked.

Mawa concurred with Opio, “The course is currently the best in the country. The fairways are good and greens are fantastic. It's a narrower and challenging course but I am in the mood to win. I hope to play well.”
