THE Golden Music Awards are on this Sunday at Nakivubo Stadium.
The awards comprise 37 categories in the inaugural ceremony. Each category has four contestants, apart from the Best TV local music and best radio local music programmme categories which have five and six nominees respectively.
Other categories of stakeholders in the music industry include Best Music Buyers and Distributors Of The Year, Best Comedian/Group, Best Radio Local Music Programme and Best TV Local Music Programme.
Abtex Productions, the award organisers, say nominees was arrived at after mini-launches across the country.
Voting is open to the public, and constitutes 50% of the tally. To vote for your favorite nominee, type Gold, leave a space, name of the category, eg, Best Video Director, leave space, then the name of the song, and send to 8888 on all local networks.
Thirty percent of the votes will be tallied from nomination forms that will be distributed at the entrance on D-day. The remaining 20% will be the organiser’s prerogative.
The Artiste Of The Year will walk away with sh5m, while the Best Male and Female Artiste will each bag sh2m. Other winners will get sh500,000 each.
