Indifference and boredom hung in the air at last Thursday’s fashion nite at Club Silk Lounge when KATZ Modelling Agency and Design house took their turn at Kampala’s monthly premier fashion event.

Even as the models took to the catwalk during the first part of the show, there was hardly any reaction from the gathered patrons.

This was hardly surprising because the models were nothing to write home about; the make-up and hair were simply atrocious. Performances from Anita, formerly of the Dream Galz and Henry Tigan, were largely ignored as people chatted and walked about.

Floral prints were the order of the day and although some of the designs were pedestrian, there was something for everyone; from the bold to the laid back breezy look and modern chic to the elegant fashionista, the designs had their own unique appeal.

The designer used a lot of locally made prints for her designs, which included several casual flirty dresses with big bold prints, long floral gowns worn with statement jewellery also by the designer and matched up shorts and tops for the more casual look.

The party collection was made up of stylish mini-dresses in basic blacks, metallics and blues. The swimsuit collection was not the designer’s original work but it was the only thing that seemed to get the crowd going.

The change in emcee proved to be futile as Esco of Teens Club seemed to know not what he was doing. By the end of the evening, you were left wishing you had been elsewhere.
