TONY Odur returned to haunt his former employers Express FC yesterday with a well-masterminded effort that condemned the Red Eagles to their first season defeat.

The youthful striker struck on 55 minutes after Juma Lwanga’s perfectly-weighted cross in a fixture that started almost an hour late.

The hosts, clustered with a couple of experienced legs in the shape of Hassan Mubiru and Phillip Obwiny, were a shadow of the side that had secured a 3-2 away win against Arua Central on Saturday.

In fact, the Red Eagles could have fallen further behind had Odur’s penalty appeal been granted in the frantic stages of the match.

“We knew Express was going to be tough so we decided to use three strikers, with one midfielder behind them,” Bunamwaya coach Edward Golola stated.

Meanwhile, army side Simba will make their second league engagement against KCC FC today extremely aware that the enemy for them might not necessarily reign from the 11 outfield players their opponents will parade.

All indications are that their source of concern could emerge from the one man that handled tactical duties for three seasons at the club in the shape of Sam Ssimbwa.

Simba will make the engagement determined to prove that they are as good or even better than the team Ssimbwa left behind in pre-season.
It’s still early days for any sort of judgment to be passed at either Simba or KCC.

But whatever judgment can be passed of how Simbwa has fared since assuming the coaching seat at KCC, the flamboyant coach’s grip on the club’s dressing room has been impressive.

After relying on Anthony Bongole’s two precious efforts for their 2-0 win over Hoima last Sunday, Simbwa has challenged his charges to prove that they are never a one-man team.

Martin Muwanga, KCC’s major pre-season arrival, will soon find himself under pressure to do the scoring in a bid to guarantee the club success in the league.
