KYENJKOJO - The Rwenzori Region Development Organisation of the Blind has petitioned the education minister to increase the number of braille teachers. John Nyandera, the group’s chairman, said studies had shown that at least two people lose their sight everyday, while many others are born blind. “Blind children still face a challenge of stigma, even from their parents,” he told The New Vision on Friday.

Man remanded over pig theft
KAMWENGE - The Grade One Magistrate’s Court has remanded a 29-year-old man to Kamwenge Prison for stealing a neighbour’s pig. The court heard that Gideon Mande, a resident of Kabambiro sub-county, stole the pig belonging to Wilberforce Byarugaba on September 10. Mande denied the accusations. The case will come up for mention on November 26.
