IRENE Katusiime put on 20 runs as Uganda’s U-15 girls side started their campaign for the ICC East Africa U-15 trophy with a win over Kenya in a rain interrupted match at Kyambogo oval yesterday, reports Norman Katende.

The Ugandans other game was interrupted by rain and the umpire declared it a draw.

Leila Namaganda also scored 10 runs, while Evelyn Anyipo and Julian Asiimwe picked two wickets each as Uganda put on 94 for the loss of six wickets.

Kenya’s chase was at 43 for six before rain interrupted the game. The revised score saw them lose by 17 runs.

“It was a good start for Uganda despite the rain,” team coach Dennis Musaali said after the draw was declared.
