SOCCER - The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) competitions committee has lifted a suspension imposed on Boroboro player Bob Obira. According to a letter signed by the committee secretary Moses Magogo, the suspension due to have lasted until March, will end on Wednesday. Obira was punished last year after being found guilty of punching an SC Villa rival during a Super Division soccer league game at Nakivubo. However, Obira claimed that he was suspended without being given a fair hearing. Obira added that the Villa player hurled insults at him.

Isiagi plan off
SOCCER - FUFA presidential hopeful Patrick Isiagi has suspended plans to launch his campaign for the top football job to counter what he has called bad publicity. The former FUFA treasurer and secretary to the normalisation committee said: “I have no more programmes to tell you (press) because it is not helping me now. The elections will be in December 2009 so I am not in a hurry,” Isiagi explained.

Gulu told to pay
SOCCER - The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) chief executive officer, Charles Masembe has written to Gulu district football association with a reminder to have their subscription fee for 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 paid. Masembe said if this is done the association would be reinstated as a FUFA member. “Records indicate that Gulu association did not take part in FUFA activities in the period indicated.
