HE has been the sports editor/commentator and presenter of the popular Campus Cruise and Akati Kemizanyo on the Mengo-based CBS FM for a couple of years. But we have now confirmed that Ahmed Bogere Masembe is jumping ship to join Ssuubi FM 104.9, a station he helped found and which he will manage.

Snoops say Bogere has already tendered in his resignation and will leave on February 28. Ssuubi FM is located near Namirembe Cathedral in their own offices. It will broadcast 80% in Luganda and follow a sports-music format. No confirmation yet on who will be presenting on the station but Masembe has been overheard frantically searching for the contacts of Rasta Rob and Shanks Vivi D, both based in the UK.

Meanwhile, we heard that he spent December in Dar-es-salaam but never knew exactly what his business there was. Now it turns out soccer activist Dennis Mbidde and the man we knew as the National Housing & Construction Corporation (NH&CC) sales and & marketing manager, was neither on holiday nor on official NH&CC business. In fact, Mbidde had just resigned from NH&CC to pursue private interests.

He was in Dar-es-salaam to coordinate live coverage of the CECAFA cup matches for GTV, who were sponsors. Mbidde is now the special coordinator, acquisitions and events, for GTV. He is still the chairman of G4, the local association that brings together fans of English clubs Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. And snoops say Mbidde is soon setting up his own real estate business.
