The central govt should focus on national economy

I support the idea of MPs and Kampala city councillors demonstrating against the takeover of Kampala city by the central government. In developed countries, the central government is responsible for managing the economy at the national level.

On the other hand, all cities are managed by the respective provincial, territorial, and municipal authorities. It is not necessary for the central government to micro-manage the economy; rather, it is charged with macroeconomics.

Let the respective municipal authorities run the city business — under the guidance of the local government ministry.

If the NRM leadership starts taking over city businesses, they will soon penetrate into the villages throughout the country, which will lead to duplication of services.

Let the central government concentrate on national issues and policies. Maybe our leaders need to take some leadership courses from developed countries!
