TABLE leaders Police tightened their grip atop the Super League table without kicking a ball after second-placed SC Villa and KCC faltered against 10-man sides. Bunamwaya held Villa to a goalless draw at Nakivubo stadium while KCC managed a 1-1 draw away to Maroons.

Villa failed to break down a spirited Bunamwaya defence even after defender Derrick Walulya was sent off in the first half.

At Luzira, KCC’s Brian Omony’s header after 20 minutes was cancelled out by an Eric Ssebuguzi equaliser just a minute later.

Wasteful KCC introduced Hamis Kitagenda in the second half but it was too late to rescue the situation.
Maroons had Richard Mugerwa sent off late in the second half. KCC and Villa are still tied in second spot, five points behind Police.

At Wankulukuku, Asad Makibwe was on the mark twice to hand Express FC their first home loss of the season as Maji were 2-0 winners over the Kakungulu Cup holders.

In Masindi, veteran Hussein Mbalangu’s strike, three minutes to time, secured a hard-fought 1-0 win for Kinyara over visiting Iganga.

Mbalangu tapped in after Richard Luyima had done the spadework in the goal-mouth.

Meanwhile, pay television, GTV, has disbursed the second quarter of $90,000 (sh157.5m) to the 18 Super League clubs, adds Swalley Kenyi.
By yesterday Police, Iganga, Maji and URA were among the clubs that had fully received their share of $5000 (sh7.9m) each.

The clubs received the first quarter in December but most of them got a maximum of sh4m after FUFA accounts at Dfcu bank were frozen.

“At least most of the clubs have received their second quarter now. We are also working on how to clear their balances for the first quarter soon,” FUFA publicist Rogers Mulindwa said at a press conference at Mengo yesterday.
