AFRICAN governments need to incorporate trade and international economic dynamics into school curricula if Africa is to achieve sustainable economic development, the trade minister has said.

“We should design our education policies such that our youth are aware of the international economic and trade dynamics,” Nelson Gagawala said, adding that the move would help the youth as they search for and create jobs.

Gagawala was speaking at a five-day International Lawyers and Economists Against Poverty regional workshop at Hotel Africana in Kampala last week.

The International Lawyers and Economists Against Poverty is a forum through which low income-earning countries exchange ideas and formulate their positions before entering into detailed discussion and negotiations with more powerful states.

Gagawala called upon African leaders to develop coherent trade policies and strengthen domestic consultations among stakeholders, including farmers, manufacturers, importers and exporters to attain sustainable investment.
