Uganda will host public accounts committees of all the East African countries, late this month at Speke Resort Hotel Munyonyo. The other countries in the East African Association of Public Accounts Committees are Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia Djibouti and the Government of South Sudan. Public accounts committee chairperson Nandala Mafabi said the association, formed in 2004 by the MPs of the East African Assembly in Arusha, Tanzania, has its secretariat in Nairobi Kenya. Tanzania hosted the meeting last year.

Former Omoro MP Jacob Oulanyah has been admitted to Mulago Hospital with acute bacterial meningitis. “He was brought here on Saturday. He is in intensive care,” sources at the hospital said. The hospital deputy executive director, Dr Isaac Ezati, refused to give details. Oulanyah currently heads an inquiry into the management of Kisekka Market in Kampala. He has been doing consultancy in southern Sudan, where meningitis is rampant.
