Students have no breathing space!

EDITOR—The ministry of education should come to the rescue of the next generation! I have a little sister in Mityana Central College in S6 and I am contemplating transferring her to another school though it seems to be too late.

The reason for this is the way school programmes are run at the school. Students attend class from Monday to Sunday, 6:00am to 6:00pm
.
The students are not given room for co-curricular activities, nor do they go for prayers. The school has neither a pastor, priest or imam. To me this is a time bomb and a threat to the next generation!

The curriculum is not development-oriented. The first crucial 15 years of every Ugandan in our education system are spent on acquiring knowledge on how “to be employed”. The time-table is crowded with chemistry, physics, geography, mathematics, history, etc.

But none of these prepare the Ugandan child for innovation leading to self- reliance! I appeal to the Ministry of Education to intervene.
