<b>Land disputes causing crime</b><br>PALIISA-The principle magistrate grade one, Ismail Zinsanze, has expressed concern over the increasing number of crimes committed due to land disputes. Zinsanze said the leading cause of crime are land related issues which lead to fighting and even murder.

Zinsanze said the leading cause of crime are land related issues which lead to fighting and even murder. He urged the public to survey their land and acquire land titles to avoid conflict.

Three held over fake drugs
JINJA-Three people were arrested for allegedly selling counterfeit medicine. The suspects were netted on Friday during an operation carried out by the Police and medical experts from Kampala. The crack-down, which swept pharmacies on Main Street and Nizam Road, also saw 78 sackets of counterfeit Enzoy drugs confiscated. Enzoy is believed to be a sex booster. The district Police commander, John Cohen Arinaitwe, declined to mention the names of the suspects for fear of jeopardising the investigations. He added that Enzoy drugs were banned from Uganda. He warned that the crack-down would continue.

MTN gives to Muslims
PALIISA-MTN mobile phone giant has distributed food items to over 500 Muslims in Iki-Iki sub-county as part of its support during the holy month of Ramadhan (fasting). Erinah Kanyange, the MTN representative, handed over the items that included rice, sugar and maize flour at Iki-Iki mosque. “We are giving these items to people we feel may not be able to purchase them during the Idd-el Fitr festivities.”

Two arrested over theft
MBALE-The Police arrested two suspected thugs believed to be behind recent burglary in town.The eastern regional Police spokesman, Idi Ssenkumbi, said John Maku and his wife Joy Namatala were arrested in their home in Namakwekwe ward.The third suspect, Richard Washero, escaped arrest. “We recovered six radio sets, speakers and television sets.”He said the thugs had been breaking into people’s houses. “ We suspect some of these things were stolen from Tororo, Busia or Malaba,” Ssenkumbi said.
