DOESN'T it sometimes seem that your financial life has taken a knock-out, when everything suddenly appears more expensive than before? You can nolonger afford romantic dinners with your wife. Maybe it is the new responsibilities like children, the inflation rate or the fluctuating fuel costs taking a toll on your budget.

The following are basic ways to improve your financial muscle.

Reality check

Before committing to any big purchases like a car, cows, expensive phone, camera, TV or any such acquisitions, make a reality check because you could be purchasing under the influence of your emotions. You can make irrational decisions due to your emotions. If you must buy a TV, ask yourself whether the one worth sh350, 000 won’t perform the same duties as the plasma flat screen you want to buy will perform?

Shop around

It goes very far in your savings to browse around for alternative prices of an item you want to buy. If you do not have time, get all the details of what you want to buy and call up different providers to make comparisons. You’ll save thousands of shillings.

Bargain

When you bargain, you save. So, just bargain [and tightly] when and if you have been given an opportunity unless there is no room for it. Truth is the asking price is not the real deal. Ever heard of people saying so and so is wealthy but he loves bargaining? Well, no offence, but that’s why “so and so” is wealthy and you are not!
