EDITOR— Last Saturday on Kfm, Beti Kamya made a statement on Buruuli’s current standoff with Buganda.

She castigated the Government for siding with the Baruuli to prevent Kabaka Mutebi visiting Nakasongola. She went ahead to propose a comprehensive discussion about who wish to belong where as a basis for determining the extent of the Kabaka’s loyal subjects.

She praised the 1964 referendum in Bugangaizi and Buyaga as “held according to law, was very orderly and the best way to address situations such as this”. Kamya gave credit where it was due. but she should also have praised President Milton Obote and the UPC government of the day. You cannot only praise a good act, ignoring the actor. She should also do the noble duty of explaining to fellow Baganda that the 1964 referendum was the best political act for Buganda and Uganda, not part of a vendetta against Buganda as they have always taken it to be all this while.

EDITOR—I agree that the best way to settle the standoff between buganda kingdom and Buruuli is to hold a referendum. This is the only way the matter can amicably be put to rest.
Does Buganda support this?
