AFTER 76 weeks of training, 36 army officers were on Thursday passed out during the graduation ceremony of the Senior Command and Staff College in Kimaka, Jinja.

AFTER 76 weeks of training, 36 army officers were on Thursday passed out during the graduation ceremony of the Senior Command and Staff College in Kimaka, Jinja.

The colourful ceremony held in the college gardens attracted several dignitaries. Defence state minister Ruth Nankabirwa, who represented the Commander-in-chief, President Yoweri Museveni presided over the function.

The graduands, smartly dressed in army green marched from the administration block to their seats led by the army band. They were received by cheers from their family members.

Maj. Gen. Andrew Guti, the college commandant, said they had 38 participants including 29 Ugandans plus seven from Kenya, Tanzania and South Sudan but one officer was discontinued and another one died.

Those who excelled in various disciplines received awards. These included Lt. Col. Octavas Butuuro, majors Abdu Rugumayo,  Asigura Kagoro, Steven Atukwase and J. Kisabit.

Nankabirwa urged the graduands to put into practice what they learnt from Kimaka and be exemplary to their colleagues.
