Money for a name
ITALY - A right-wing party is offering 1,500 euros (sh3.7m) to parents who name their babies after wartime fascist dictator Benito Mussolini or his wife Rachele. The party says these names have been shunned for so long that they are now almost extinct. The MSI-Fiamma Tricolore party, the descendant of Mussolini’s fascist party, said the bonus applies to babies born in 2009 in five villages where the birth rate is especially low. Mussolini ruled from 1922 to 1943 when he was ousted and later executed along with his mistress Claretta Petacci in 1945. His widow Rachele died in 1979.

Nude party for resort
AUSTRALIA - A holiday resort will hold a month-long nude “anything goes” party to combat an expected economic downturn. The owner of the White Cockatoo resort called it the risque party month. Local regional Mayor Val Schier said she was not opposed to the event as long as no laws were broken. Australia’s tourism industry is being hit hard by global economic turmoil with official figures showing a 7.6% decline in overseas visitors. Industry leaders are hoping this resort will be almost fully booked for the month-long rainforest party.

French get size gold
EUROPE - The French say they need the largest condoms in Europe while Greeks get by on smaller ones, according to a Europe-wide study by a German consultancy that provides advice on condoms. The study measured the penises of 10,500 men in 25 countries to find that Frenchmen on average claim to need 15.48cm long condoms, about 3cm longer than Greeks, whose condom-size requirement was the most modest.
