THIRTY local boxing officials were for the first time trained how to handle the computer scoring system by a Kenyan expert on Sunday.

The officials, who included referee-judges and coaches received instructions from Kenyan Joseph Ojambo. They are preparing for the national open due on February 10.

Local federation president Roger Ddungu met all the expenses of the workshop.

Federation vice-president Stephen Aciga revealed examinations will be held to select officials to participate at the championships at Lugogo.

“There are now going to be routine exams before a championship. It will also act as a refresher course,” he told participants.

Meanwhile, Uganda has been invited for the Africa Zone V championships in Egypt April 10-15.
