Why is every foreigner an ‘expert’?

SIR — I always wonder why The New Vision throws around the word “experts” when referring to foreigners, specifically from the US and Europe.

You seem to call every white person commenting on Africa an “expert” but I don’t read the same language accorded to our own brains, the likes of Prof. Mahmood Mamdani or Dr. Sylvia Tamale and many others.
On January 29, you wrote an article entitled “US expert advises Makerere on funds”.

What makes Professor Eamon Kelly from Tulane University an expert? What is he known for and what is he an expert in? Please save our souls.

Not every white person from the United States or Europe who comes to talk in Uganda is an expert! That is strange!
