KAMPALA University is to set up a branch in Kitangela Kenya, to meet the growing number of Kenyan students at the university.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Badru Kateregga, said the move will bring services closer to people
“At the moment we have 30% Ugandan students at our Kampala campus. The rest are from Kenya and Tanzania,” Katergga said.

Kateregga, during the fourth graduation ceremony at the university's campus at Ggaba said the university has already acquired the building and they are in the process of acquiring an operating license from the education ministry of Kenya.

Operation starts with the academic year 2007/2008 and will have students pursue courses in education and computer sciences with specification in information communication technology.

Kateragga said the eight-year-old university has also established another compass for the Universal School of Nursing and Health Science at Mutundwe.
The school, which is licensed by the Uganda Nurses and Midwife Council, is running for the second year.

The, Katikkiro of Buganda Dan Mulika, the executive secretary Ministry of education Kenya, Everett Spanda and representatives from other universities attended.
