EXCITED Villa fans threw money onto the pitch to thank their players after a victory over Heroes that put their club back in the Super League title hunt.

Augustine Nsumba and Stephen Bengo walked off the Nakivubo pitch with their pockets full of notes after two great goals. The first half had ended goalless.

Substitute Nsumba celebrated his return from injury with a goal off his first touch six minutes into the second half. Bengo grabbed the second with a well taken free kick soon after.

Villa are now three points behind table leaders Uganda Revenue Authority.

The defeat left Mbale Heroes, fresh from ambushing fancied KCC, still looking for crucial wins to move away from the relegation zone.

In Masindi, Express got their second crucial point in two days despite their game nearly being abandoned.

The game against Kinyara was stopped for five minutes after Express protested the tripping of their defender by a fan. Red Eagles defender Apollo Kakaire sparked off the confusion when he rough tackled Kinyara’s Kenneth Kaliisa on the touch line.

A fan tripped Kakaire as he trotted back to the field prompting Express coach Ibrahim Buwembo to summon his players from the pitch. Express, who had the previous day also drawn with Masindi, were later convinced to get back on the pitch despite a yellow card for Kakaire.
