Internal affairs minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda has clarified that dropping the Internal Criminal Court (ICC) indictments is not on the agenda at the peace talks which will resume in Juba on April 26, reports Henry Mukasa.

In a statement, Rugunda said he was misquoted during a press conference on Monday, saying reports that the indictments will be the first item on the agenda of the talks are misleading.

“When the peace talks resume in Juba, we shall finalise Item Two which is comprehensive solutions and then proceed to Item Three which is accountability and reconciliation,” Rugunda stated.

“Our position on the court indictments is that, the government will engage the ICC after a final peace agreement (is reached) and after the LRA have undergone the traditional justice system of mato-oput,” He said.

Rugunda said the LRA were allowed t assemble in one area and are scheduled to move their forces from Owiny Kibul to Ri-Kwangba within six weeks.

The minister added that the cessation of hostilities agreement was extended to the end of June.
