Man jailed over murder

MBARARA-A 56-year-old-man of Ndago in Nyarushanje sub-county was on Friday remanded for allegedly murdering two people. Prosecution said Robert Nsigazi killed his sister-in-law and her son early this month over a land wrangle. Nsigazi reportedly dumped the bodies in River Minera. The magistrate did not allow Nsigazi to enter plea since the offence is only handled by the High Court.

Weighing scales impounded

RUKUNGIRI-The Uganda National Bureau of standards (UNBS) has impounded 26 weighing scales in Rukungiri and Kanungu districts. The UNBS technician at the Mbarara regional office, John Musinguzi, said the operation was conducted between May 9 and 17. He said the seized weighing scales had not been stamped for the last 12 months. Musinguzi said although 90% of the weighing scales in Rukungiri and Kanungu districts were valid, there is a great concern over the cheating of buyers of meat by traders in Mbarara town.
