ALL buildings on the Entebbe road reserve face demolition, as beautification of the road ahead of CHOGM, begins.

The works ministry has marked off the part of the road to be reserved using concrete slabs.

The Road Agency Formation Unit spokesperson, Dan Alinange, said the reserve covers 30 metres on either side of the road.

“There should not be any development within the road reserve. All structures put up in the reserve should be demolished,” stressed Alinange.

The New Vision has established that all petrol stations along Entebbe Road are in the road reserve just as several residentialhouses and kiosks.

Valley Technical Services, the firm beautifying the road, has already razed several makeshift structures and cut trees and flowers in the road reserve, some in people’s compounds.

“Our contract is to beautify the road reserve. We are going to clear the reserve and plant flowers,” said a female employee of the firm.

A survey observed that the majority of the encroachers are in Kitubulu, Bwebajja, Namulanda, Kajjansi and Zana. In Kitala, many stone crushers are still operating on the road.
