Why is Magara an exception?

SIR — In his letter “I used to respect Reagan Okumu” published yesterday, George Murungi Nyakaana was grossly unfair to Okumu. First he tells us what Kulaigye said on radio without giving Okumu’s comments so that we can compare.

SIR — In his letter “I used to respect Reagan Okumu” published yesterday, George Murungi Nyakaana was grossly unfair to Okumu. First he tells us what Kulaigye said on radio without giving Okumu’s comments so that we can compare.

He simply blasts Okumu. Secondly, he takes Kulaigye’s comments for gospel truth without reasoning!

Kulaigye is quoted by Nyakaana to have said that Lt. Magara, who is alleged to have shot FDC supporters in Mengo, was not court-martialled because he is a disbanded soldier. Why doesn’t Nyakaana ask what a disbanded Magara was doing with an AK-47 rifle? Does our dear Nyakaana know that the UPDF Act provides for civilians arrested with military weapons to be court-martialled?

That is precisely why several PRA suspects are before the court-martial. why should Magara not follow them?
