LAST year, she did not attend the Pearl of Africa Music Awards (Uganda’s most glamourous awards), because they were “secular”.

Her monster hit Beera Nange had been nominated and was Best Gospel single.

Then came the Victoria Gospel Music Awards (VIGA), which debuted on Sunday at Serena Hotel.

Babirye’s Beera Nange was contending with Semakula’s kankutendereze for Song of The Year (which award semakula took home!).

Babirye won a VIGA for Album of The Year.
