THIS sad news for patrons of Sax Pub in the city centre –– a place once reported in the press as a threshold to hell, where God’s Word and innocence are unheard of and where everyone behaves madly.

Sax Pub is famous for its nocturnal activities especially involving ladies of the night. Apparently the bar, located next to Nakasero Market, has been bought by a city tycoon, Yasin Matovu alias Young. Young, who owns Sunset Arcade on Wilson Street and has a thriving motorcycle business in Ndeeba, reportedly paid sh600m to the late Kalinda's widow for the bar. We hear he plans to construct a shopping arcade in the area.

Naturally, the development has brought smiles to the business community but also disoriented patrons of the red light district it turns into at night.

Sorry folks, development first.
