There are two mammals found in Austrialia that are different from others because they lay eggs. These are platypus and echidna. We are going to look at the platypus.

A platypus is a strange animal which is partly like a mammal and partly like a reptile. Its mouth looks like the bill of a duck. Its toes also have webs like that of a duck. The female platypus lays her eggs in a nest at the end of the burrow. She hatches them with her warm furry body, then feeds her young with her milk.
