Music is not like politics because numbers count

SIR — I appreciate the efforts of the reporter who rounded up Show Biz of 2005 in the New vision of January 10.

SIR — I appreciate the efforts of the reporter who rounded up Show Biz of 2005 in the New vision of January 10. However, I am surprised by the listing of the local songs. I wonder what criteria the reporter used in determining the positions of such songs.
Jose Chameleone may have lost the Clown but many will agree with me that Kipepeo cannot ride behind Kinigeria, Kiki Onvuma and those other tracks. If he quoted figures from local producers in town like Kasiwukira, Lysin and XYM, the piece would carry a meaningful message. Otherwise, it is disappointing to feed us with discouraging and baseless results. Music is not like politics because crowds in concerts count. If few people turn up for a concert it flops. Now, which artiste or whose track pulls more people? I suspect the article was written by someone who does not go to nightclubs to see how fans react to tracks and was based on emotion rather than research.
