INDEPENDENT parliamentary candidate for Kigulu South constituency George Patrick Bageya has said he was the one who brought corruption in Iganga hospital under control, reports George Bita.

“It is on record that when I took over district chairmanship in 1996 we systematically put an end to the rampant bribery in Nakavule (Iganga) hospital,” Bageya said.

He said, “Reports of patients paying exorbitant fees for what was supposed to be free treatment ceased when I took up the matter with the relevant authorities. We identified culprits, apprehended and reprimanded them.”

Bageya said his detractors do not give him due credit for the achievement.

“Those who have been to Iganga hospital recently have not parted with a coin except for special cases in need of drugs out of stock. Even the blood or fluids for drip are now free,” he said.

Bageya was on Wednesday addressing a rally at Ntinda church grounds in Bulamagi sub-county.
