SIR – Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has in recent weeks received several calls from the public requesting us to pick up frail birds suspected to have the bird flu virus. Unfortunately, our staff do not yet have the expertise nor the equipment to handle such birds.
SIR – Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has in recent weeks received several calls from the public requesting us to pick up frail birds suspected to have the bird flu virus. Unfortunately, our staff do not yet have the expertise nor the equipment to handle such birds.
The Bird Flu Task Force, which is mandated to sensitise the public about the scourge as well as handle such cases, has better capacity than UWA for such a task. We therefore wish to inform the public that the task force has set up the following bird flu hotlines: 041-344775 and 0772-595792. Members of the public can use these to report suspected bird flu cases.
