LUGAZI Diocese Bishop Mathias Sekamanya has blamed street and orphaned children on parents.
He said some parents spent more time in bars than with their children.

Sekamanya criticised parents who dressed indecently, saying they were not exemplary.

He said through their adventures, parents contracted HIV/AIDS, increasing the number of orphans.

Addressing Christians at Lugazi cathedral, sekamanya criticised women who wore trousers, short skirts and blouses that exposed their bodies.

He said children needed parental attention to make the right decisions.

“Ebimansulo (nude dances) by youths result from lack of parental control. Children are left to decide on their own and they end up making wrong decisions,” he said.

He said alcoholic men spent their salaries on drinking and deserted their homes, leaving the family responsibilities in the hands of the wives, most of whom were poor.

He called for enactment of bylaws limiting the time bars, discotheques and restaurants operated.

Sekamanya urged parents to educate their children, who would look after them on retirement.
