It was like a shoot out at the OK Coral. Ziggy, a nephew to rally ace Emma Katto, was in the company of Jamo (of True African Magazine) at The Rouge last Saturday. As they were leaving at 5:00am, Jamo picked up a fight with a guard at Bank of Baroda for unknown reasons . In steps Ziggy to quell the storm but to no avail. In a state of panic, the guard radio-calls Police, who promptly arrive screeching tyres like a scene out of the movie Mission Impossible, to quell the situation. By that time, the Rouge bouncers and a few ‘well-wishers’ were all involved in a melee of words with the guard. As the Police tried to isolate the guard and Ziggy, one policeman thought cocking his gun would put an end to the situation and ordered both Ziggy and Jamo onto the Police patrol car. On hearing the gun cock, Ziggy puts his hands up in surrender. For the policeman, it was the cue to fire and he did so from close range, shooting him in the stomach. As if that was not enough, after rolling on the ground a few times, he was ordered to climb onto the pick-up and dumped to CPS bleeding, on the floor for 30 minutes. Luckily, he still had his phone on him so he called a few people before he blacked out and woke up in hospital. The policeman who shot him has been arrested (orders from CMI) while his colleagues are on the run. Ziggy was operated on and is now recovering well at Mulago Hospital, ward 2A, bed 10.
