COMMISSIONER for Human Resource in Police Fred Yiga jetted in quietly, Saturday, after receiving his PhD in Criminal Justice from Stanford University, USA.

Family and friends met him at Entebbe Airport. He could be the first active police officer to hold a PhD (we hear John Kamya is pursuing one as well) in the current force.

Yiga pursued that doctorate concurrently with his second MA in Conflict Transformation from the Centre for Justice and Peace Building, Eastern Minnesota University, Virginia, USA. His first MA was in Public Administration and Management from Makerere University. Yiga’s two-year study leave ends in August.
