EIGHTEEN new sites have been identified to decongest internally displaced people’s (IDP) camps in Pader district, the acting resident district commissioner (RDC), Christopher Omara, has said, writes Justin Moro.
Omara, however, cited challenges which have got to the process.
He said they needed more social amenities to establish the new IDP camps.
The RDC, who is also the chairman of the district security committee, said the security situation in the district was still calm despite the presence of LRA rebel remnants.
Omara appealed to NGOs and development partners to help the district solve the problems hindering a smooth and speedy decongestion process.
Pader district recently received 16,800 iron sheets from the Prime Minister’s office to facilitate the resettlement of IDPs as promised by President Yoweri Museveni during his campaigns.
Meanwhile, Omara advised residents to plant food and cash crops during the current rainy season so that they can have ample food to supplement what the UN food agency provides.
