Congratulations for having completed your mock exams. Now make good use of the post-mock season to prepare for the fast-approaching national examinations.
The following tips could help you prepare for your finals which are less than three months away:
lAnalyse the test format and approach teachers for help where you have difficulties. Analyse your teachers’ comments and act accordingly.
lTake note of what has not yet been covered in the syllabus and programme yourself to catch up.
lLook at the general score of the candidates and gauge where you fall. Does being the best in your school equate with other students in the country?
lContinue attending lessons even as you revise for the final exams.
lThe results of one test do not indicate your potential. Compare the mock results with your progress reports to see whether they are consistent or not.
lThink positively because if you think you are not going to perform well in the test, it will affect your results.
lIn his book Managing Your Learning, Geoffrey Squires observes that learning is a shared responsibility. But the learner’s share increases as one climbs the academic ladder. The greater burden of managing the learning process, therefore, falls on you with little help from others.
lSeek help if personal relationships are worrying you. If the problem becomes more difficult to cope with, contact a counsellor.
