Tororo LC 5 chairman Emmanuel Osuna has urged primary school teachers to utilise Pass PLE in The New Vision to improve the performance in their schools.
Waving a file of The New Vision, Osuna said the pullouts are set in accordance with the UNEB standards.
Osuna said the pullouts prepare pupils for their final examinations. He said this while addressing primary head teachers in the district at a recent meeting at Rock View Primary school.
According to the 2005 PLE results, 125 pupils passed in division one in the district out of 1,896 candidates.
The district inspector of schools Robinston Aroda attributed the poor performance to negligence by teachers. “I have visited some schools and found only three teachers in class while the head teacher and other staff relaxing. This should stop,” he warned.
He said four sub counties of Nabiyoga, Merikit, Paya and Mollo did not have any first grades.
