ALCOHOL producers have formed an association to counter and reduce abuse of their products.
The Uganda Alcohol Industry Association (UAIA) was registered in August to promote responsible drinking.
The body was launched on Tuesday at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel by health minister Dr. Stephen Mallinga.
Marion Adengo, the UAIA chairperson, said the body was conceived out of the belief that a healthy liquor industry is dependant on a healthy society.
She said while UAIA had little influence over individuals who are prone to antisocial behavior, it will contribute to responsible society norms.
