President Yoweri Museveni has advised Samia Bugwe North MP Aggrey Awori (left) to join the movement.

He said the Movement cap that Awori accepted on Wednesday should be a starting point for the multiparty legislator to consider joining the party.

“You have taken the movement cap. I want you to think about it from today,” Museveni told Awori at a rally in Busia town.

After wearing the cap briefly, Awori put it under his armpit. Museveni told Awori to reject the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC), saying it suffered political bankruptcy.
Museveni said he once belonged to the Democratic Party (DP) and UPC but he abandoned them due to their inability to stabilise the country.

He said DP failed to take off, while UPC failed to balance sustainability of the country through the army, economy and political administration.

Awori, however, said he had his personal ambitions that could allow him to join the movement.

“It may be the wish of the people of my constituency for me to join the movement. But I also have my personal ambitions,” Awori, a former presidential candidate, said.

He said he would support and work for the movement government while in his party.
“I can work with you,” he told Museveni.
