Kyambogo medical centre leaves a lot to be desired

<br>SIR — I am not happy with Kyambogo University administration for ignoring the university medical centre.

SIR — I am not happy with Kyambogo University administration for ignoring the university medical centre. The centre does not seem to be part of the university, given its miserable condition. In the first place, there is severe shortage of drugs, so the most prescribed drugs are aspirin and panadol for almost every sickness. Secondly, the dental section has never been operational since the beginning of this academic year. Whenever one gets a dental problem, the best treatment one gets from the dentist is counselling! The dentist has become a counsellor because he does not have dental equipment!
The medical centre is ever busy. Despite the fact that the doctor and clinical officer advise students to stay in a clean environment, this is not evident at the centre.
Worst of all, there is a high level of negligence on the part of the attendants. at times students who visit the centre with serious problems are not immediately attended to, especially in the evening hours. Finally, Kyambogo never refunds government-aided students who get treatment from outside the centre!
