THE First lady, Janet Museveni, the has launched a tree-planting exercise on the Entebbe-Kampala corridor.

The ceremony took place on Tuesday in Entebbe municipality, Wakiso district.

She said residents of Entebbe in particular and Ugandans in general should join hands to make the Entebbe-Kampala corridor clean because it is the gateway to the country.

She called for cultivation of the habit of ensuring cleanliness, hygiene and safeguarding the environment.

Mrs. Museveni urged Ugandans to appreciate the value of self-reliance through communal development projects, a statement from State House said.

She also launched Muzinga Park recreational centre, a spot identified by a disused and abandoned gun used in the battle between British and German forces in the Second World War.

Entebbe mayor Stephen Kabuye said the municipality had planted over 500 trees and said the programme would be in line with their determination and commitment to good environment and economic empowerment.
